Daisy
My vanity is dutiful;
It’s not your fault I’m like this.
What am I if not beautiful?
My body blooms in shyness.
It’s not your fault I’m like this;
You don’t know the venom in my mind
That blooms my tragic shyness
For the girl I see in your eye.
I know the venom in my mind
That tells me you’ll leave me cold
If the girl I see in your eye
Isn’t as perfect as you’re told.
Tell me you won’t leave me cold
When I start staring at my hips.
Imperfections are cleaner untold,
But they tremble on my lips.
Your arms gently hug my hips,
And I wonder for my worth.
My fear trembles on my lips
That I’m only a daisy on this earth.
If I wonder for my worth,
Then my vanity is dutiful.
A common flower on this earth,
What am I if not beautiful?
